While staying at the Craftsman cottage owned by his aunt and uncle, a young Walt Disney began his legendary film career in their garage. The cottage’s ownership has recently been returned to the Disney family. Noted historic preservation architects Page & Turnbull are rehabilitating the house. LGLA is working closely with the architects and client to re-envision a landscape appropriate to the Craftsman era, including a colorful plant palette inspired by some of Walt’s legendary films.
Sustainable practices are seamlessly integrated on-site in the form of low-water use planting and an underground cistern which will store harvested stormwater for reuse as landscape irrigation.
