Featured in Exploring Guatemala’s Gardens: From Atlantic to Pacific by Kix Nottebohm, this pied-a-terre is set within the walls of a 17th century former convent. The dynamic garden echoes the spirit of Antigua’s lush, dense planting, rich with leaf color, variation and texture with ginger, palms, and cycads. Final studies of the custom fountain were conducted with a full-scale concrete model. With the turn of a knob, the fountain makes sound suitable for atmospheres ranging from meditative to lively. This harmonious setting has become the center of the family’s daily life.
